It is beyond doubt that drug-addiction always plays havoc with the life of the addict as well as with the society in which he lives. It not only spoils all the social norms but also causes irreparable loss to its victims generation after generation. No society has ever been able to heal itself from the wounds caused by drug addiction on the part of its individuals. The most damaging impacts of drug addiction on a society are as follows.
Poorest moral values
A drug addicted society is severely deteriorated on moral grounds. Drug addicts never care for any moral values whatsoever. Committing a crime is their second nature and they never feel reluctant towards this whenever they are bent upon satisfying their addict of drugs. The devellish urge to take drugs steers them to violate all the moral ethics and they fulfill their cheapest objectives crushing over all the moral and human considerations. Such a society always remains backward and mean mentally and spiritually, and its individuals always lack in the enlightenment of progress as they are all the time lagging behind the modern world.
Diwindling economic conditions
Besides the poorest moral aspects, a drug stricken society also suffers from diwindling economic conditions which never allow it to keep abreast of the latest times. Production and smuggling of drugs and other narcotics, slovenly approach of the individuals to their jobs, unhealthy financial policies, flop economic strategies and no practical implementation of economic laws and theories never leave anything worthwhile in the economy of that society. How can an economy be flourishing and prosperous if most of its contributers have a diseased thinking and a paralyzed body. In short, a drug addicted society always faces economic crisis and finds no way out from this marshy land of drug addiction. Hence, the society collapses ultimately and the country becomes bankrupt.
No real administration
In a really democratic country, it is only people who rule the country by running a successful government or official system. Impartial judiciary and free press ensures the proper working of the overall system by keeping a watchful eye on all the concerning matters. But if working machinery or man power is mostly addicted, from where shall we get such an excellent infrastructure necessary to run a country on good administrative grounds. Addict persons will form an addict society and when such mentally diseased people will elect a government, what more can they do than spoil the whole system.
Moreover, the political image of the country and society becomes disgusting and untrustworthy worldwide and there seems no administrative set up at all throughout the whole society. In addition to all this, the illegal transportation of drugs and narcotics also proves that no real control of the administration exists in the society.
Conclusion
In the light of the above mentioned bad impacts of drug addiction, we can conclude that drug addiction is one of the worst enemies of a society. Unfortunately, well talented and well educated individuals also get entangled in the drug-net just because of keeping a bad company of addicts and vagabonds. Drug pushers always remain in search of such victims and they capture them like pearls and jewels and use them for the accomplishment of their gruesome objectives. Country and society must be on their guard to ward off such criminals and must try their best to keep themselves pure and drug free.
