Outcomes of a new study shows that obese men with high insulin levels are more likely die from prostate cancer if they are diagnosed with the disease.
The findings have been published online earlier and they are expected to be published in the November issue of The Lancet Oncology as well.
The lead author of the study, Dr. Michael Pollak , who is a professor of oncology at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, said: “ I am not a sensationalist, but the effects of obesity and insulin are so big that if you have to choose between being thin and a low insulin level or access to the best chemotherapy, you may be more likely to survive without chemotherapy.”
